Found these two benches with table at a thrift store and painted them for my classroom a few years ago. The seats open and I store tapes on books in one and the cassette players in the other one. When I retired, I kept them because I think they are so unique and practical.

I like this kind of bench, with storage below;
French school benches are completly different, I'll try to find one to show you, the storage is not where you seat but where you write!(difficult to describe in english for me:-)) )
